Pest Management Licence Requirements in Western Australia

Endorsement 1: Sales

This endorsement DOES NOT qualify you to mix or apply pesticides. It allows you to provide general sales advice on pesticide treatments. We have been advised a Statement of Attainment for theory component of CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides is sufficient for this endorsement.

The theory component of CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides can be completed by self-paced learning.

Endorsement 2: Commercial domestic pest control for PROVISIONAL LICENCE

If you are starting your career in Pest Management or returning to Pest Management after a period of absence from the occupation, you will need to start by completing the theory component of CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides.

This can be completed by self-paced learning (remote) or by trainer facilitated learning (in class). Our training considers that there are many repeated theoretical components of each unit and that your learning journey in pest management should commence with non-chemical and chemical techniques combined with the basics of vehicle storage. This is why we offer the theory of the following set of units by self paced (remote) learning. This first of the two self paced (remote) learning courses and include the following units:

CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides
CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

For those who prefer a trainer facilitated intensive training course, we offer the theory of the following units as one course. Again, this is because many of the theoretical components of each unit are repeated, and we consider they are best delivered as one course for a better learning outcome. This format also considers those who live and work in regional Western Australia. The units are:

CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides
CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

CPPUPM3017 Maintain, service and repair pest management equipment CPPUPM4003 Assess and advise on pest management options for sensitive operations
CPPUPM4005 Implement and monitor on pest management options for sensitive operations

Whether you commence your learning by self paced learning or by trainer facilitated learning, once you complete the theory of these units, you will be able to use our completion certificate to support an application to the Department of Health in Western Australia for a provisional licence.

Obtaining a provisional licence is essential for you to be able to complete the practical component of the units of competency in your workplace under the supervision of a workplace supervisor who must hold a Pest Management Technicians Licence. The company must be a registered pest management business with the Department of Health in Western Australia.

Those who have opted for the self-paced learning journey will also complete the theory of:

Please note that those enrolled on self paced courses can join a trainer facilitated course at anytime for no additional fee.

Once a provisional licensee successfully completes all of the above units, the trainee must submit an amendment form to upgrade the licence to a technician licence in commercial domestic pests (excluding termites and timber pests).
